flautO
' flautO ' is the project name for a collection of compositions dedicated to me. the name is a pun, a contraction of ' flauto ' and ' oriana '.
' oriana ' was a pet name for queen elizabeth I, to whom a series of madrigals - ' the triumphs of oriana ', collected and published by thomas morley in 1601 - were donated. ' flauto ' as italian for ' flute ' seems obvious..
' flautO ' will be a series of new pieces, concertos for flute and (chamber) orchestra in the broadest sense possible, based on elements from the book of madrigals for elizabeth I.
this project kind of started by itself at the end of 2012, as a consequence of fascinating coincidences and a strong desire to do so.
composers hugo harmens (NO) and jeroen malaise (BE) already started writing and present their ideas in the following short videos and/or text :

jeroen malaise , °1973, a pianist/harpsichordist/composer living in antwerp, member of zvezdoliki and studying composition with wim henderickx and luc van hove , was one of the first composers that contacted me. after talking a bit, jeroen got enthousiastic about this idea and started to write : he named his composition 'BlickFeld'.
about 'BlickFeld', jeroen has written a little intro :
" 'BlickFeld' is going to be a composition for Oriana Dierinck and Zvezdoliki with flute, violin, cello and piano. It consists of imaginary, dreamy sets being interrupted by more rhythmic and abrupt moments. It is an interaction between a spectator, his environment and his perception of environment. In the same time also an interaction between audience and the space where the music is performed. "
